Registration process for Kids under the age of 13
KidMix requires a parent or guardian to create a parental user account before they can setup a profile for their child. During the initial registration step, we will request the parent's name, email address, and a password. Once submitted, you will be directed to the Identity Verification section. (Please notify us if you believe a child under 13 has registered without a parent's permission.)
In order to meet the FTC's Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) standards, KidMix requires parental consent verification for all users under the age of 13.
KidMix offers two ways to verify your identity to ensure your child's safety, both of which require us to collect your personal information:
1) Verify via a patented ID verification system processed by Child Guard Online. Our verification system requires your full address, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number. Your personal information will be immediately verified or require additional change questions for ID verification approval. We will temporarily transmit any personal information to a third party data provider that is under obligation to keep your information confidential.
2) Verify your identity using your credit card, Paypal, or Amazon Account. A fee of $1.00 is required for this verification process. The privacy policies implemented by the service provider will govern the collection, storage and use of information that you provide. Once submitted, KidMix will grant you access to the Parent Dashboard allowing you to set up your family profile.
Usernames & Passwords
Parents are provided the option to use your email address as your username or create a unique user name. Your username will be displayed when you send a message or, respond to a playdate request, so it's your option as to which username you would like to use. Parents are required to set their password as part of the initial registration. When setting up an under 13 child profile, you will be required to create a unique username and password for that child. Usernames and passwords are required to successfully login to the web based parent dashboard, the KidMix Dashboard App, and the KidMix App.
Users can reset their passwords by selecting forgot my password on the login page and following the instructions Parents can change their child’s password at any time from within the web based parent dashboard.
To best protect your account, we recommend using a different password for KidMix than that of other websites and apps you use. We also recommend that you do not share your password. KidMix follows industry practices and stores passwords as a computed value that cannot be reversed or used to access other sites.
When defining a username, we recommend you consider anonymous letter patterns because usernames are used to receive invitations and will be visible to the KidMix community. KidMix does not allow inappropriate words as usernames and we reserve the right to change usernames. You are responsible for controlling access to your username and password (and those of your child) and you are responsible for any communications or actions taken through your usernames and/or passwords. You agree to notify us immediately of any security breach of your account.
Parent Dashboard & Family Profile Setup for users under the age of 13
After completing the identity verification, you will be provided access to the KidMix Parent Dashboard where you will be prompted to complete your profile and setup profiles for one or more children.
KidMix's Parent Dashboard is the central location for parental oversight of all KidMix activity for your child. The parent dashboard is accessible via the KidMixApp.com website and is also available via the KidMix App using the parental credentials. The parent dashboard provides parents full access to your child's KidMix Account. Parents can view all My Feed and News Feed Activity, review friends and followers, invite friends on behalf of your children, and send direct messages to your child.
You can choose to upload a profile picture or add one at a later time on the web or on the App. Optional gamer tags can be added to help with online playdate coordination. Parents can access these from the parent dashboard child profile page.
By creating a child account, you are granting your child permission to use the KidMix service and all of its features. This combined with your registration will be considered verified parent consent as described under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Under COPPA, you have the right to review, request the deletion of, or request that we stop collecting or using your child's personal information at any time. To do so, please contact us using the information below.
Sending and Receiving Invitations
When inviting others to connect on the existing KidMix network, an automated message will be sent to the recipient and the recipient’s parent (if initiated by an under 13 user) with a request to join KidMix.
After an under 13 child sends an invitation to a friend, the receiving parent will receive an email invitation to join KidMix. Once registered, that parent will have the invitation in their KidMix mailbox and can accept the friendship request on behalf of their child.
With relation to retaining the parent phone number or parent email used as part of the out of network invite or when a child enters this information in the signup page of the app, if a parent doesn't create an account, the email or phone number will be deleted within 5 days.
KidMix stores invitations for a period of 30 days. We record your response to invitations as an audit trail. If you delete a family user, we will also delete the history of invitations including your responses. Please note that it can take up to 90 days for your information and invitation history to be removed from our system.
Users 13-17 years of age can send, receive, accept, and decline follow requests with other users who are 13-17. Friend requests sent to users under 13 must be approved by the under 13 user.
After you accept a friend or follow request, a friend or following connection will be made. As a parent, you can remove your child’s friends by deleting them from the child profile section of the web based parent dashboard or accessing your child's friends via the KidMix App. When a parent deletes a child's friend connection, it supersedes other settings and the connection will disappear from view with no notification to the child or the friend.
Parents can also control password access to their child's accounts in the event they wanted to disable their access to the KidMix App.
KidMix includes a feature that allows direct messaging between parent and their child or from a connected user to another connected user. These messages are delivered directly to the parent or child's mailbox. Parents can view their under 13 child's mailbox on the Parent Dashboard for full oversight.
Status Updates & Commenting
KidMix provides the ability for users to post a status update from within their profile page on the KidMix App. Curse words and other inappropriate content may be filtered or flagged and are not to be used. Parents can delete their child’s status update from within the parent dashboard. KidMix also reserves the right to delete a user who uses inappropriate content on a post.
All users have the ability to upload photos or videos, take a photo or video, or edit photos using the optional photo editor from within the KidMix App. Photos can be displayed as a profile picture or posted in their news feed (seen by friends or followers). KidMix also reserves the right to remove a user account who posts inappropriate photos or videos.
Removing previously posted content
Status updates, photos, and other comments that any user may share on their profile or news feed are viewable by other KidMix users that are a connected friend or follower. If you would like to remove a status update, comment, or photo that you or your child has created, you may do so accessing that post or comment and implementing the delete function. If you are a parent, you can access the parent dashboard to delete as well. If you wish to delete all activity associated with your account or your child's account, you should send an email to email@example.com and provide notification to have your account deleted. Once you delete your account (including any children sub-accounts that may be associated with your account), we will not be able to recover it for you. If you decide that you want to use KidMix again after having deleted your account, you will have to create a new one.

KidMix's playdate scheduler allows children to use our proprietary scheduling system to coordinate virtual or physical playdates with their connected friends. The playdate scheduler is only available for users whose accounts are setup by their parents. This includes all users under the age of 13 and any user 13 or over whose parent setup the initial account for them. The easy to navigate scheduling process is available on the KidMix App for children and is available for parents via the Parent Web Dashboard and the KidMix App using the parental credentials. Parents are required to accept, modify, or decline all playdates that are scheduled or received.
KidMix takes no responsibility for the actions or events that occur before, during, or after a scheduled playdate. We advise that parents communicate with each other to finalize actual playdate activities. We are not responsible for any activities that occur during a physical playdate. We are only a scheduling system to help facilitate the coordination of a playdate between children.
The KidMix Application includes the KidMix VideoZone. KidMix's VideoZone provides an entertaining collection of safe, regulated, kid-approved videos. Videos cannot be shared outside of the KidMix Application and there are no external links that could re-direct a user to another website or application. KidMix does not claim ownership of any of the videos or video content.
